This class is a joyful, welcoming space to explore movement, confidence, and playful self-expression led by Edmonton’s legendary Kiki Quinn. No dance experience required. We’ll learn classic burlesque fundamentals like bumps, grinds, shimmies, and simple choreography in a supportive, low-pressure environment. Expect lots of laughter, lots of cheering each other on, and a big confidence boost.
This Pride edition will include a focus on hip-opening and mobility exercises, which are especially helpful for folks who feel tight through the hips or who haven’t been encouraged to move this part of their body before. These exercises are gentle, empowering, and designed to help you feel more comfortable, free, and connected in your movement. This workshop is for all bodies, all genders, and all experience levels.Come as you are, celebrate yourself, and move in a way that feels good. It’s going to be a giggle, a confidence boost, and a whole lot of joy!

Over this 1.5 hour course you’ll learn the basics of drag king makeup, from the iconic king, Orpheus! Orpheus has been performing since 2019, and is Edmonton's Greek king. In this workshop, he will provide overviews of specialized products, in-depth tutorials, and share all the tricks of the trade to help demystify the artform. After taking the course you’ll feel equipped and empowered to start making creative looks of your own!

From brow blocking to overdrawn lips and cut creases, this step-by-step lesson will be a great way to learn the basics or sharpen your skills in a way that is accessible to any level of expertise.

All the entertainment is free! We’ll also have sunscreen and water for folks to protect against getting sun-wiped!

The majority of the space is wheelchair accessible, and we will have quiet/chill zones for folks who feel overstimulated as the space can get quite intense. An exploration of Gabrielle Roth's physical improvization practices, which will guide the building of giant puppets out of cardboard, and then crafting queer performance with the giant masks. The 5 Rhythms improvisational practice uses dance as a somatic approach to healing and self-discovery. It is a practice that guides individuals to release emotions, connect with the body and the body’s impulses.
Puppetry with the making of giant masks is to bring to life the immaterial as a way to understand the nature of the material world. By blurring the boundaries of the living and the dead, puppetry and object performance blur all other binaries.
Pre-requisites, if any: Comfortable clothing, comfort with taking shoes off and using boxcutters Movement level & Considerations: all levels

This workshop welcomes folks with enthusiasm for and any level of experience in clowning with a specific focus on gender. Sign up if you are curious how the artform of clowning can bring nuance and expansiveness to the embodiment of gender. Please bring a water bottle, comfortable clothing, and an open mind!

Imagining what it could look and feel like to embody your gender and being without the societal constructs of the binary as an act of reclaiming the body and sexuality. Through this workshop we will use somatic embodiment practices of movement and dance to help us explore the sensations and feelings in the body which will aid us in creating our own body maps and narratives.

JARED GOLDSTEIN is most recently a 2022 Just for Laughs New Face + chosen as one of Vulture’s Comedians to Know. He can currently be seen on Roku’s NIKKI FRE$H, starring as Nicole Richie’s trusty right hand and assistant, as well as starring in season 2 of DOLLFACE on Hulu and the final season of THE UNICORN on CBS. Additionally, Jared’s standup premiered in this past group of Comedy Central’s FEATURING, and in 2019 he was chosen as one of New York Comedy Festival’s Comics to Watch as well as Time Out’s Comedians to Watch. Jared participated in the 2020 CBS Diversity Showcase. Previously, he has appeared on ABC’s Modern Family, COUNTERPART with JK Simmons for Starz, RIZZOLI & ISLES, and the feature film IT’S KIND OF A FUNNY STORY starring Zach Galifianakis.
Originally from Long Island, he’s additionally appeared in an SNL sketch written by Tina Fey featuring Jimmy Fallon as well as the Off-Broadway production of Spring Awakening and the Broadway production of A Christmas Carol at Madison Square Garden.

Orpheus will show all the products you need to paint a drag face and explain how to best apply them. They will discuss the principles behind contouring for a male illusion and they will share a guide they made of masculine contouring patterns, and explain how different shapes convey different things about your drag persona. Participants will follow a step by step how you paint a natural looking male illusion.
This class is BYOM (Bring your own make-up). We will supply you with a list of products in advance of the class and they can be purchased at Theatre Garage. If you already have similar supplies you are welcome to bring them as well.
